Injury & Surgery Recovery

Man getting a recovery massage on his leg

In an ideal world, no one would be injured or must have surgery, but it happens. Our Recovery Massage therapy was designed to help those clients through their recovery and get back on track. Healing is a road not easily walked down without the proper team by your side. Our trained therapists are ideal in helping aid this process.

Expect a thorough review of your injury or surgery with your therapist so they can properly examine and assess the best course of treatment for your recovery. This is appropriate for anyone going through any form of spinal or joint surgery or injury. We work to rehabilitate muscles and tissues, rebuild strength, prevent scar tissue and calcium buildup while promoting circulation, so the healing process can take place. Therapists may use any of the following techniques during your session: Deep tissue work, myofacial release, trigger point pressure, Graston technique, active release technique, joint traction, ligamentous stretching, acupressure lymph detox, heat therapy or cupping.

Promotes a corrective avenue too properly heal acute tissue injuries, from neck, shoulder, knee, ankle or any spinal injury/surgeries. A specific massage and therapy session only increases the chance of a quicker and more successful recovery.

*** With this massage, Post-Op Manual Lymphatic Drainage is available (must be mentioned at time of booking). This is a gentle but slightly painful massage that increases the bloodflow and promotes recovery by specifically targeting your lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps process waste and absorbs fluid. After surgery, these fluids can harden, which is often painful. This therapy can help aid the body in draining excess fluids that cause post-surgical swelling and helps relieve soreness and numbness. During this process, techniques such as elevation, compression and the right motion can reduce the painful swelling. This process also stimulates the drainage of fat cells and lymph fluid, softens scar tissue and promotes blood circulation of the skin, allowing skin to become firmer, smoother and healthier.

Since Post-Surgical swelling can last anywhere from 3-6 months, it is recommended for clients to receive at least 10 Manual Lymphatic Drainage massages and wear the proper compression garment (Faja). Bruising may occur after surgery, which is normal, but with these massages, the healing time for bruises is expedited because it cleanses the extracellular spaces where these substances are trapped.

Please notify Lakeview Massage and Therapy at time of booking that you would like the Post-Op Manual Lymphatic Drainage with your Injury and Surgery Recovery therapy. ***
